Monrovia, CA

Monrovia is the fourth oldest incorporated city in Los Angeles County and is located in the foothills of the San Gabriel Valley about 15 miles east of Los Angeles. Established in 1887, the community prides itself on its old housing stock. In 1995, after seeing many local cities demolish perfectly good older homes, Monrovia established their Historic Preservation Ordinance to help protect historic homes from the wrecking ball. The Commission has landmarked more than 100 properties and structures, saving them for all to enjoy now and into the future.
With a charming Old Town on Myrtle Avenue, Monrovia is known for its hometown appeal. It is often referred to as our very own “Mayberry.” With shops and restaurants known through the area, people from all over come to Monrovia’s Friday night Street Festival and the other offerings during the year, including 4th of July fireworks, Summer Concerts in the Parks, the local Wine Walk, and other fun gatherings.
As a town of around 36,000 residents, people are inspired to move here for good schools, great shopping, ease of transportation, and its location, which puts the mountains, beaches and deserts within a short distance. Monrovia has something for everyone!
