My name is Alicia Escobar. I have lived in Monrovia since 1992. I currently work at Monrovia High School, and have also worked in the past at Bradoaks Elementary School, Canyon Early Learner Center and Canyon Oaks High School. I enjoy working with kids, and my passion is to serve the community. I was chosen in my district as the Employee of the year 2021-2022, and I am the recipient of the Renaissance Soaring Eagle Award. I like to spend time with my family and always I have God as my guide.
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I have a small family of four, all living in Monrovia
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I work as Production Center Manager at Monrovia High School. I oversee eight programs, including four private schools. Food and shelter are the most basic human needs that may be scarce in times of crisis, so what could be more important than serving food for a family during a time of great stress during the pandemic.

Cafe de Olla, La Adelita
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I have been here since 1992, and have 18 years of service working at MUSD serving the the students
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
My friend, Cynthia High
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
I would like to travel to Europe to visit schools to see the way that they serve lunch at schools and what kind of food they serve – that would be very interesting.
Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
I don’t watch too many movies, but I like the show, Law & Order
Q: What advice would you give to people?
Live to the fullest! Wear your nicest clothes and jewelry – don’t wait for special occasions because this life is a special occasion.

To make the time to travel
Q: What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?
The Beatles
Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
The whole colorful street of Myrtle with that old look, a nice place to have lunch or dinner with friends
Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative, with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
I would like to have lunch with a couple of friends that right now are recovering from health issues, and I cant wait to have a lunch with them here in our community.
Q: What is your favorite thing about Monrovia or something unique about our community that you like?
I like Monrovia mountains
Q: What is your greatest regret?
I really do not have any regrets, every bad decision is a lesson learned
Q: Even for friends or family, what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I am an open book
Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
I like a lot of places in the USA, but I enjoyed the Niagara Cataracts in Canada.
Q: What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Having the opportunity to provide food and meet the basic needs for families during Covid, serving more than 1.5 million meals with the support of my great team at work.
