I was born on January 10th in Scranton, PA and have two older brothers and two younger sisters. We lived in Syracuse, NY from 1954-1960, then moved to Arcadia in 1960. I sat next to my wife, Becky, in the third grade at Rio Honda School, where I served as Student Body President in 8th grade. I attended Arroyo High School from 1966-1970 and played basketball all four years. After graduation, I attended Citrus College from 1970-1972, then Cal State Long Beach from 1972-1975. We bought our home in 1988 here in Monrovia.

My hobby is basketball – I played it, I watch it and for 37 years I officiated the game – 22 years at the Division 1 Level. My sports career was ended after I was in a terrible car accident in 2005 in Arcadia.

I was one of four guys to form the San Gabriel Valley Basketball Officials Association in 1976. My city interests involve the Kiwanis Club for 31 years and counting; Board of Directors at Santa Anita Family YMCA for 13 years; San Gabriel Valley Volunteer Center for seven years; and Big Brothers for four years. I was awarded the Chamber of Commerce Iris Award, the Humanitarian Award from the YMCA, and the Mary Wilcox Youth Advocacy Award from the Boys & Girls Club of the Foothills. Additionally, I deliver Meals on Wheels, have been a five-time Campaign Manager for Candidate Becky Shevlin, and am a Supporter of Monrovia Reads and City of Hope Walk for Women’s Cancers.
