My name is Jackee and I am currently finishing up my senior year at Monrovia High School! I was a student athlete for most of high school, a leadership student, and I run the re-established Christian Club.
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I live with my mom and my two sisters, but my dad lives right down the street from us in Monrovia, as well. My family enjoys the beauty of Monrovia hikes, restaurants, Old Town, and the scenery of the foothills.
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
In the past, I aspired to be a doctor or a lawyer, and then that shifted to aspirations of entrepreneurship. Although my study field and career of choice is now going to follow a psychology and counseling path, entrepreneurship has remained a part of my life. Learning from our parents, my sisters and I have monetized our time and abilities in several ways. We have supported the seasons by selling hot cocoa bombs in the winter, chocolate covered strawberries in February, handmade wreaths for Christmas/Valentine’s Day, and other small business opportunities. I currently work as an associate at Panera Bread here in Monrovia, and I continue to take part in entrepreneur opportunities with my sisters. I love that in any and all of these opportunities, I meet new people and connect even further with those that I know. I even learn new ways to both manage my time and make products more successful!
Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
A couple of my favorite restaurants in our community include Mimi’s Cafe and Copper Still Grill!
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I have only lived in Monrovia since my freshman year, but I’ve been a part of MUSD since kindergarten at Plymouth Elementary.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
If I could travel anywhere in the world right now, it would be Switzerland. I would love to explore the Swiss Alps and go backpacking through its natural beauty. Switzerland seems so peaceful, and I can picture myself waking up for a beautiful sunrise with breakfast and my Bible.
Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
I don’t watch much TV and I can’t say I have a favorite movie, but I’ve recently grown a love for action movies and documentaries! I appreciate the intensity and complex storyline of a good action movie, and the informational nature of a documentary.
Q: What advice would you give to people?
Advice I would give to others is to make the most of your time with family and doing the things that you love. Never skip out on rest or a chance to show love and grace to someone!
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A couple things on my bucket list is traveling, and riding in a hot air balloon.
Q: What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?
My go to band when I can’t decide what to listen to is Gable Price & Friends.
Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
I would love to have lunch with one of my pastors’ wives from church because there is so much we can learn from each other. Locally, we could meet at Grey & Cash for a good sandwich and maybe some coffee!
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
The scenery of our community is beautiful! The foothills are such a lovely place to be. Looking from Myrtle up to the mountains looks like something from a painting.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
In 5 to 10 years, I see my at-home counseling practice in full swing. I will have a good relationship with at least a few regular clients, and I will spend my in-between time researching and writing. I will be settled into a home with my growing family!

Most people— including friends and family— don’t know that I love running.

Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
My favorite month is December, which goes hand in hand with Christmas! I love the winter imagery, the weather, the lights, the decorations, and the giving spirit. Winter is such a cozy time, and it always seems to bring people together. The single best day on the Calendar may be Easter because it is the day where so many do something to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus!
Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
I would rate the beach at sunrise a 10 out of 10.
