My name is Timothy, I am one of Santa’s helpers during the Christmas season. I visit my favorite kid, Ellie every year on the 1st of December and I stay with her until Christmas Eve when I fly home to the North Pole with Santa. Each night I magically return to the North Pole to report to Santa how Ellie has been behaving, then when I return to Ellie’s house I usually do something mischievous, like TP her Christmas tree for her to wake up to. Ellie’s brother has an elf as well – his name is Bob, so two of us have a really fun time running amuck at the house together. The rest of the year for me is pretty mellow, which is great, it really helps me rest up and prepare for my annual December visit.
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
My family is huge, I have so many elf family members at the North Pole. But best of all, I have Santa and Mrs. Claus to hang out with.
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
My first job as an elf to a kid was in 2008 when Ellie’s big sister Maddy was little. I was her elf first and then became Ellie’s elf once Maddy grew up and moved out of the house. I love what I do so much! There is nothing like the joy and excitement on Ellie’s face when I first arrive in December and then the daily anticipation of what she will wake up to each day. Of course there are some hard parts of my job, like when Ellie is having a hard day and I have to give Santa a not so great report.
Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
I have actually never been to a restaurant, but I have heard Ellie’s mom talk about a loving a few places in Monrovia like The Market Grill, Cafe Mundial and Tommy’s.
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
Forever!
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
My favorite people in the community are the Santas that are here to help the “Big Guy” in the North Pole. All the amazing Santas that see all the kids and hear all of their Christmas wishes – they are such great people, bringing so much joy to all the kids.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
Last year I was able to travel to England because Ellie went there for Christmas to visit her grandparents. That was so fun to travel somewhere new and to have a different house to play tricka on Ellie in. I would love to go back there again soon – it was so special to see how happy Ellie’s grandparents were to spend Christmas with her.
Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
Any Christmas movie! I love them all, although if I had to pick just one, it would have to be ELF!
Q: What advice would you give to people?
Always be kind! It doesn’t take a whole lot of effort to be nice, to make that extra effort to put a smile on someone’s face.
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
I would love to be able to ride with Santa on Christmas Eve and help him deliver all the gifts to the kids all over the world. It takes a really special elf to be able to do that with Santa.
Q: What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?
I love to listen to Pentatonix -they have the absolute best Christmas music!
Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
Santa’s Village
Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative, with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
I would love to have lunch with my kid, Ellie. She isn’t allowed to touch me, or I will lose my magic and she has never seen me move, so it would be so nice to be able to spend some time together without all the rules. If we could actually do that, I think we would both love to go to La Michoacana Superior for all of the ice cream we could eat.
Q: What is your favorite thing about Monrovia or something unique about our community that you like?
Monrovia is such a beautiful city. Each night when I am flying to the North Pole and I am over Monrovia, I am always amazed how beautiful, clean and quaint the city is!
Q: What is your greatest regret?
It makes me so sad and I always regret having to tell Santa when Ellie has been naughty. But it’s my job and I know it’a the right thing to do, but it is the worst part of the job.
Q: Even for friends or family, what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I love playing with toys! Ellie has the most amazing collection of Barbies. We have a great time playing together when Ellie is at school. We drive the cars around the house, have pool parties. I could have never imagined having so much fun at my kid’s house!
Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
The North Pole is the most beautiful, magical place you could ever imagine!
Q: What do you consider your greatest achievement?
My greatest achievement is being able to work with Santa and help bring joy and the magic of Christmas to my kid.
Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
I would rate the snow in the North Pole a 10/10. That is the one thing I miss when I am visiting my kid, Southern California in the winter just isn’t quite the same as the cold and snowy North Pole.
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
Santa inspires me to do my best and strive to be better. He is such an amazing jolly guy and I would love to be just like him. I love the time I get to spend with him. It’s amazing to me that one person can bring happiness and joy to so many people in the world.

Peppermint and hot cocoa
Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
