My name’s Henry and I am a dad, a music executive, and a college professor. I have been living in Monrovia since 2011. I travel often for work, and it’s always a pleasure to return home to this town.

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I have two elementary aged daughters. My ex-wife and I share custody, and we decided to raise them in Monrovia.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I work in the music industry, more specifically in music publishing. As a Chief Creative Officer and Head of Publishing, I oversee music assets and intellectual property. My day-to-day job involves looking at spreadsheets and contracts.

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
For an amazing breakfast, Peach Cafe. London Gastropub for a good flatbread. Salads at Sena. For a good carne asada torta, Taco y Tapas. For a good buffalo cauliflower, Copper Still Grill. For a good Margarita, Basin 141.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
Monrovia’s been my home for 12 years.

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
Back when I was starting in the music industry, Mario Ferrante has always been a friend and mentor. He is a very inspirational member of the community.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
I get to travel quite a bit for work, but I’ve always wanted to go back to Paris. I went many years ago and have always dreamed of going back.

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
Bourne Identity movies

Q: What advice would you give to people?
Find a good church and a good bar and don’t abuse either of them.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
Win a physical Grammy award

Q: What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?
Coldplay

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
The Old Monrovian had the best veggie soup, and I still miss it.

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative, with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
I’d love to meet the Dalai Llama.  We’d lunch at Basin 141

Q: What is your favorite thing about Monrovia or something unique about our community that you like?
I appreciate that there are people that look like me who live here. Even though we are striving for a more equal Monrovia, I’ve witnessed the growth and diversity of our community in the time I’ve been here.

Q: What is your greatest regret?
I don’t regret my professional career choices; however, finding a work-life balance could help.

Q: Even for friends or family, what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I recently learned that I am part Portuguese.

Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
Peten, Guatemala, surrounded by old Mayan pyramids.

Q: What do you consider your greatest achievement?
When I was in grad school, I started a company that turned 16 this year.

The Monrovia street fair.

Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My daughters, as well as my business partners.

Q: What is one or two of your favorite smells?
Leather and Chamomile tea.
